Our Pupil Leaders

School Council

We have a range of opportunities for our children to take on 'responsibilities' as Pupil Leaders. Not only does this give them a strong sense of belonging, it provides them with an insight into what being a leader is like.

For some of the roles, pupils are democratically elected by their peers. For others, pupils have to apply for positions they have an interest in.

Below are our current leaders and the roles they undertake:

School Council:

Name Class
Steven & Joanna 1S
Henry & Ella 2W
Sydney & Isaac 3P
Emily & Max 3/4EF
Rosie & Mia 4S
Denis & Charlie 5JH
Harleigh, Reegan & Noah 5/6F
Holly & Elisia 6P

The role of a School Councillor:

  • To work as a team to improve our school environment.
  • To listen to all suggestions and consider how they can make our school happier.
  • To work closely with all staff and pupils to make ideas possible.
  • To attend and participate in School Council meetings.
  • To share information from meetings with children in our class.
  • To organise school events and raise money

HCAT Councillors

Our two HCAT councillors meet with other pupil councillors from across our Trust schools to discuss the work they are doing in their own schools, as well as discuss improvements the want to see within the Trust. They meet on a termly basis, with a HCAT Children's Conference held towards the end of the end of the year to celebrate the work they have done. Our HCAT Councillors are: Elisia and Noah.

Hive Helpers

A number of our older children support in our SEND Unit at lunchtime, working alongside the lunchtime supervisors to engage some of our most complex children in fun activities. Not only does this help support pupil's understanding of difference, they get a real sense of pride from what they do. Our Hive Helpers are: Thubelihle, Caitlyn, Scarlett, Bonnie, Lucy, Rosie, Amber, Gabrielle, Eleanor and Olivia.

Hall Helpers

A number of our older children support in the dining hall at lunchtime. Their role can involve supporting our younger children with their food, as well as scraping plates, wiping and stacking chairs and helping children leave the hall to go outside. Our hall helpers are: Amelia, Millie, Leila, Caitlyn, Freya, Hollie, Elissa, Gracie, Sophia and Thubelihle.

Play Buddies

Our play buddies have a key role in supporting OPAL and play and lunchtimes. They help set up activities and run small games of their own. Our older pupils lead games for our younger children and build effective leadership qualities, as well as our school values of empathy and tolerance. Our play buddies are: Eliza, Logan, Violet, Oscar and Archie.

EYFS Play Helpers

Our EYFS play helpers lead games and activities for our youngest children. They model communication and behaviour, setting a wonderful example for others. Our EYFS play leaders are: Reegan, Jay, Jayden, Bailey, Millie, Thubilihle, Oakleigh, Leila, Freya and Hollie.
